About :
N. Schrot works mostly with installations using various media coming from different genres. Wall painting, video projections and light as forms of artistic expression come together, communicate and relate to each other. Schrot creates Space by involving its own characteristics and aiming at a synthesis of media, architecture and atmosphere, what can show up very different according to the location worked with.
Concept of the final Project : (more Pictures of the work are shown below )
„Die Suche nach Freiraum“ (the research for free space) is a site specific mixed media installation realized at the Sonderwerkstatt at the „Eurobahnhof“, Saarbrücken, Germany. The work relates to phenomena de structuring cities. In the constructing of new buildings, shopping malls and parking places there nowadays is a huge loss of free spaces that should be meeting places and social platforms for the citizens. So there arises the question in what way our living space the city is democratic for the common citizens. They cannot take part in decisions being made over the use of „free spaces“ in town. The work „Die Suche nach Freiraum“ uses warning signs taken from the street. They are put in relation with the wall paintings and projections as a symbol to mentally liberate the painting (and in further consequence the personality of the painter) from the orders or direction pre-set by them.
