R.O.T. was formed in the autumn of the year 2000. They started as a rather informal gathering of a two-piece, formed around members of Toss (see also K11 and K33), but the band quickly mutated into a collective exploring sound in pride of ‘free-music’. By bringing together a bunch of friends, musicians as well as non-musicians, in diverse surroundings e.g. abandoned churches, galeries, old factories, local radio stations, parks and several other public areas… R.O.T. found its ‘raison d’ être’.
Early R.O.T. outputs were quite loud, wild and noisy ; a real spontaneous approximation of “noisy drone music”. Instruments used were mainly guitars and ‘distortion pedals’. Progressively R.O.T. took the shape of a mainly acoustic big band introducing a lot of different sound sources (guitars, organs, wind instruments, percussion, objects, modified electronics, etc…).
Today R.O.T. tempts its adventure with a more stable core of five members plus others having the freedom of jumping in whenever they like. Members of R.O.T. are involved in different other projects such as Coarsebangor, Buffle, Partkdolg, Benjamin Franklin en Veglia Records,…
